Limor Yosipovich
Contemporary textile artist, working from her studio.

Her life and her work move forward,
thread by thread.
Before Limor discovered the loom, she had already spent years making things beside her father, Abraham.
His workshop was downstairs, full of tools, wood and metal. She worked beside him there and out in the yard, learning simply by watching and doing – how to understand a material, stay with a problem and carry an idea through.
Years later came the loom, and another teacher. Both are still present in the work she makes today.
Over the years, pattern-making, garment construction, dyeing and weaving gradually found their way into the same work.
Somewhere along the way, they became something distinctly her own.
There is no fixed recipe.
A work may begin with thread, wood, wire, colour – or simply with curiosity.
Things are tried, changed, taken apart and started again. Limor does not hide how a piece was made. The process remains there to be seen.

In 2009, Limor met Eddie Schwartz, who would later call her “my only student.”
For years, he taught her classical Gobelin weaving from the ground up.
He also gave her a loom from the Mambush tapestry workshop at Ein Hod, the artists’ village founded by Marcel Janco, one of the founders of Dada.
